  3. I'm a bit confused; isn't water a renewable resource? We learned about evaporation, precipitation, and all that stuff. So where is the water going?

  4. is there anyway to create the ultimate water filtration system that will clean any type of water? If they can do it with a water bottle then why not anywhere else?

  5. Scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) conducted a study on 925 of the world's largest rivers. In examination, the researchers found that in addition to direct human impacts due to agricultural diversion and dams, "the reduced flows in many cases appeared to be related to global climate change, which is altering precipitation patterns and increasing the rate of evaporation. The results are consistent with previous research by Dai and others showing widespread drying and increased drought over many land areas." The Columbia River, specifically, has declined its flow by 14 percent between 1948 and 2004 due to "educed precipitation and higher water usage in the West."
